The importance of a positive leadership presence will be discussed at the next Business Breathers webinar planned for this Wednesday, June 3 at 11 a.m.<\/p>\n
Business Breathers<\/a> is a new weekly webinar series facilitated by the Goodman School of Businesses\u2019 Goodman Group<\/a>. It features 30 minutes of live industry and faculty expert-led discussions, followed by a 15-minute question-and-answer period. Topics focus on leadership, management and innovation, as well as the financial and social impacts of trending topics.<\/p>\n This week, personal branding expert Barbara Devine will share how using effective communication skills can enhance one\u2019s leadership presence and ultimately influence and motivate others.<\/p>\n \u201cLeadership presence is what people say about you when you\u2019re not in the room,\u201d Devine said. \u201cIt\u2019s your image and how people perceive you. For example, a strong leader is often described as authentic, credible, empathetic and confident.\u201d<\/p>\n Devine said that managing people\u2019s perceptions is an intangible skill that can be learned over time.<\/p>\n \u201cNo one is born a leader,\u201d she said. \u201cBuilding leadership presence is easy to do. It involves learned skills that apply to everyone. You just have to practise them.\u201d<\/p>\n Before founding her own company Impact and Performance six years ago, Devine worked in management and executive positions for more than 30 years.<\/p>\n Although the Business Breathers webinars are intended for the Niagara business community of entrepreneurs and leaders, everyone is welcome to participate, including Brock University students, alumni, faculty and staff.<\/p>\n Interested participants are asked to register online<\/a>.
