Managing individuals and teams during times of stress is at the core of a discussion planned for a free webinar this Wednesday, May 27 at 11 a.m.<\/p>\n
Business Breathers<\/a> is a new weekly webinar series facilitated by the Goodman School of Businesses\u2019 Goodman Group<\/a>. It features 30 minutes of live industry and faculty expert-led discussions, followed by a 15-minute question-and-answer period. Topics focus on leadership, management and innovation, as well as the financial and social impacts of trending topics.<\/p>\n Goodman School of Business Dean Andrew Gaudes will lead a discussion on \u2018Managing through the unmanageable.\u2019 He will address how managers can support staff who are struggling mentally and emotionally, how to motivate and engage employees working from home and how businesses and individuals can focus on a core purpose.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s unimaginable to think the world would go into hibernation because of global disease,\u201d Gaudes said. \u201cIn times like this, our foundational assumptions can be completely shaken. Without a strong foundation, we must focus on our core purpose.\u201d<\/p>\n Gaudes has studied telework and crisis management for more than two decades, including writing a master\u2019s thesis on virtual officing during periods of interruption, which examined frameworks for creating telework environments in periods of crisis.<\/p>\n Although the Business Breathers webinars are intended for the Niagara business community of entrepreneurs and leaders, everyone is welcome to participate, including Brock University students, alumni, faculty and staff.<\/p>\n
