{"id":66033,"date":"2020-05-25T08:40:47","date_gmt":"2020-05-25T12:40:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=66033"},"modified":"2020-05-26T09:18:07","modified_gmt":"2020-05-26T13:18:07","slug":"brock-community-required-to-complete-cyber-security-on-boarding-process","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2020\/05\/brock-community-required-to-complete-cyber-security-on-boarding-process\/","title":{"rendered":"Brock community required to complete cyber security on-boarding process"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"NoneA\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">In a move to protect Brock and its community from cyber attacks, the University is adopting Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for faculty, staff and students.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"NoneA\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">MFA is one of the single most effective ways to protect an organization against remote attacks and prevent cyber criminals from gaining control of sensitive information. When Brock users get access to MFA, they will receive a notification asking them to confirm they have just tried to log in to Office 356 or Workday.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>As the<span class=\"NoneA\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0Information Technology Services (ITS) team is in the midst of the on-boarding phase, only select departments are currently required to approve MFA logins. However, all faculty, staff and students are required to go through the on-boarding process and select and configure one of the authentication methods to prepare for the upcoming MFA enforcements.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"NoneA\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">ITS is recommending the Microsoft Authenticator Application as it is easy use and does not require assistance from ITS to configure. The application can be downloaded from the Google Play and Apple stores.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"NoneA\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Initially, MFA will be required for anyone accessing Workday or Office 365.
