Brock University is taking another step in the implementation of its Institutional Strategic Plan with the launch of a reconfigured Students unit and the continued development of its Engineering program.<\/p>\n

In order to meet its Strategic Plan priority of offering a transformational and accessible academic and university experience to Brock students, the University is realigning resources.<\/p>\n

Anna Lathrop, Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Students<\/p><\/div>\n

The new Students portfolio will be led by Anna Lathrop, whose new title will be Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Students. She will head up a unit intensely focused on supporting students on non-academic issues and enhancing the student experience. Lathrop will oversee the units of Student Life and Community Experience, Student Wellness and Accessibility, Student Success Centre, Residence Life, Recreation and Youth Programs, and Brock Sports.<\/p>\n

Lathrop will also assume leadership of the Provost\u2019s Advisory Committee on Engineering that is working on the introduction of Engineering programs at Brock over the next several years. This team has already brought forward a Minor in Engineering Science, approved by Senate in December, and is working towards the introduction of graduate and undergraduate engineering programs.<\/p>\n

University President Gervan Fearon said\u00a0Brock is known across the country for its exceptional student and athlete experience, and this new portfolio directly supports the University\u2019s strategic priority to enhance that transformational student experience.<\/p>\n

\u201cBrock is committed to supporting the success of our students and recognizing the outstanding contributions made by our student-athletes,\u201d said Fearon.<\/p>\n

Brian Power, Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Academic<\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cThese changes deepen existing collaboration and will lead to new points of integration that should have a positive impact on student success supports and student and athlete experiences both inside and outside\u00a0of the classroom.\u201d<\/p>\n

As part of the update, the offices of Co-op, Career and Experiential Education (CCEE) as well as the Centre for Pedagogical Innovation (CPI) will be moving to the portfolio overseen by Vice-Provost and\u00a0Associate Vice-President, Academic Brian Power.<\/p>\n

Provost and Vice-President, Academic Greg Finn said these units are both strongly connected to academic programming, curriculum design and experiential learning, \u201cso there is obvious alignment with the work Brian currently does.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re grateful for the foundation that has been laid with CCEE and CPI under Anna\u2019s leadership,\u201d said Finn, \u201cand excited to see the positive contributions she will be able to make to the lives of students in this new role.\u201d<\/p>\n
