Brock University is set to welcome a fresh group of Badgers for a new semester focused on online learning.<\/span><\/p>\n

International students electing to start this May for Spring\/Summer programming will begin their degree in countries across the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a unqiue situation,\u201d said Sandra Gruosso, Associate Director, Brock International Services. \u201cThe positive side is that students are able to begin their dream of a Canadian university education from the comforts of home, wherever home may be.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

It also means that no study permits or visas are required until students have to physically enter Canada to further their studies, which is often a complicated process to navigate.<\/span><\/p>\n

Brock International Services has migrated their student support online including academic and language support, immigration consulting, and student engagement opportunities.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to ensure students continue to receive the high level of satisfaction that the University has built its reputation upon,\u201d said Gruosso.<\/span><\/p>\n

The department has also developed a number of new, innovative programs to help students thrive in their new setting. <\/span><\/p>\n

It all starts with welcome week activities, where students select one of two <\/span>online Orientation sessions<\/a><\/span>. To accommodate varying timezones, the first is on Friday, May 1 at 9 a.m. EDT and the second is on Wednesday, May 6 at 2 p.m. EDT.<\/span><\/p>\n

Brock\u2019s Academic and Language Specialists will introduce new undergraduate students to university life with a suite of new programming, including <\/span>managing your transition to Brock and online learning<\/a><\/span> on Monday, May 4 at 10:30 a.m. EDT, and several more academic support workshops planned through the spring and summer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Brock International Services also has a number of fun and interactive virtual events planned to keep students engaged outside of the classroom. A full list of workshops and activities planned by Brock International can be found on <\/span>ExperienceBU<\/a><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Students are also invited to an international community group on Microsoft Teams, creating a direct line of communication with their student support staff and an immediate connection to their fellow classmates from around the world.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

English Language programs also continues online, with English as a Second Language (ESL) at all levels, along with the eight-week <\/span>Accelerated English Language Program (AELP)<\/a><\/span>\u00a0from either May 4 to June 26 or July 6 to August 28. Graduates of AELP will meet the <\/span>English proficiency requirements<\/a><\/span> for Brock programs that require an IELTS 6.5\/TOEFL 88.<\/span><\/p>\n

Students are encouraged to check the status of their application in their <\/span>my.brocku.ca<\/a><\/span> portal and confirm their status immediately if they\u2019re opting to start in May.
