joins month-long celebration of co-op and experiential learning

As a national leader in co-op and experiential learning, Brock University will be abuzz with events to celebrate the first-ever Co-op and Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Month in March.

Organized by Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning (CEWIL) Canada, the month-long celebration will see an array of events nationally and within the Brock community, which are designed to educate students, faculty and community partners about the experiential opportunities, co-op work terms, community-engaged projects and career-related programs available to them.

For Cara Krezek, Brock’s Director of Co-op, Career and Experiential Education (CCEE) and President of CEWIL Canada, the chance to continue to showcase Brock’s ongoing WIL initiatives within a national spotlight required more than a week.

“We decided to turn Co-op and WIL Week into Co-op and WIL Month to provide our partners across the country with an expanded period of time to fully explore and promote the many work-integrated learning opportunities available to our community,” she said.

On campus, the CCEE team is set to stage dozens of events, giveaways, workshops, information booths and drop-in cafés, which are all centred around the theme ‘Experience More.’

Slightly further afield, the team will also host the annual CCEE Recognition and Celebration event at Heartland Forest on Wednesday, March 11 to recognize the efforts of exemplary students, community and industry partners, and the Rise and Shine event on Tuesday, March 25 at Café Fifty Four in Niagara Falls, which aims to network with the community and provide CCEE resources to new audiences.

Krezek said the month allows more time for students to learn about the established programs CCEE already hosts, new programs they are preparing, and from students and staff who are actively engaged in a diverse range of opportunities and are seen as national leaders in the WIL community.

“From celebrating the 20th anniversary of our Med Plus program to recognizing our current outstanding student award winners to promoting our new Talent Bridge opportunities, Co-op and WIL Month is designed to bring our entire community together to ‘experience more’ of the options CCEE has available,” said Krezek.

Co-op and WIL Month begins Monday, March 2 and runs until Tuesday, March 31. To learn more about Co-op and WIL Month and to see a full list of events taking place at Brock,
