But later the same day, its missiles\u00a0unintentionally destroyed an airliner\u00a0in Iran, killing 176 civilians, including 57 Canadians.<\/p>\n<p>That combined success and blunder suggest Iran\u2019s military and government \u201chuman systems\u201d have not kept up with the weapon technology they wield. They also illustrate how missile threats pose challenges to other countries worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>Iran belatedly admitted Saturday that IRGC surface-to-air missiles (SAMs) had shot down the passenger jet near Tehran. The SAM crew somehow mistook the Ukrainian airliner for an American cruise missile.
