{"id":63085,"date":"2020-01-07T16:00:19","date_gmt":"2020-01-07T21:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=63085"},"modified":"2020-01-07T16:36:47","modified_gmt":"2020-01-07T21:36:47","slug":"popular-ccovi-lecture-series-returns-this-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2020\/01\/popular-ccovi-lecture-series-returns-this-month\/","title":{"rendered":"Popular CCOVI Lecture Series returns this month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The<a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/ccovi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute<\/a>\u00a0(CCOVI)\u00a0Lecture Series is back for its 13th year, giving people from around the world access to Brock University\u2019s leading grape and wine research.<\/p>\n<p>Nine speakers from across CCOVI\u2019s network of researchers, scientists, fellows and professional affiliates are participating in this year\u2019s series. Topics will span a wide range, from the latest research on grapevine cold hardiness and freeze protection to yeast for appassimento, ice wine and sparkling wines, and preferences and evaluations for judging wines.<\/p>\n<p>The series will begin with a lecture by Janet Dorozynski, Trade Commissioner for Canadian Wine, Beer and Spirits and Tourism at Global Affairs Canada. Dorozynski will give an overview of what it takes to export Canadian products.<\/p>\n<p>The CCOVI Lecture Series began in 2007 and has become a highly anticipated event both locally and for those tuning in remotely through livestreaming.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce again, we will bring the latest in grape and wine research into the hands of grape growers and winemakers,\u201d said CCOVI Director Debbie Inglis. \u201cSharing knowledge and providing outreach opportunities like the Lecture Series is an important part of CCOVI\u2019s mandate and is of tremendous benefit to our industry and our students.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The free lectures begin Monday, Jan. 20 and take place in room<a href=\"http:\/\/www.brocku.ca\/blogs\/campus-map\/mackenzie-chown-complex\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0H313 of the Mackenzie Chown Complex<\/a>\u00a0at Brock University. The lectures are open to the public and begin at 2 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Paid parking is available in the nearby Lot E.
