Hundreds of Brock University faculty and staff gathered in Market Hall Tuesday, Dec. 10 in celebration of collaborative efforts from the past year and the approaching holiday season.<\/span><\/p>\n

Employees enjoyed <\/span>each other<\/span>‘<\/span>s<\/span> company as well as complimentary appetizers, sweet treats and beverages before the formal agenda began.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Five employees were <\/span>honoured<\/span> with distinguished staff service awards and 16 individuals were recognized for their long-standing commitment to the University.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Bryan <\/span>Cober<\/span>, Manager, Structural Services with Facilities <\/span>Management<\/span>, was <\/span>the recipient of the <\/span>Human Resources Distinguished Staff Service Award for Leadership<\/span><\/a>, which recognizes one staff member with a proven record of leading and working collaboratively, engaging faculty and staff, building strong relationships, and developing a respectful work and learning environment.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI was very <\/span>surprised<\/span>,\u201d said <\/span>Cober of the news<\/span>. \u201cI’m thrilled to have won this award, but we\u2019re all a team, right? We all work together to support students.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In her nomination letter, Tracey <\/span>Naldjieff<\/span>, Research Accounting Clerk, wrote that Brock staff have come to rely on <\/span>Cober<\/span> for his expertise and appreciate his teamwork attitude and overall approachableness.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBryan is involved in projects people often overlook or take for granted,\u201d she said. \u201cHe’s been on the roof, beneath the floor and in virtually every building, classroom and living space on campus. Regardless of where his is, the impact of Bryan\u2019s work is reflected throughout the progressive teaching and working environments we have all come to feel safe in, enjoy and be proud of.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to the Human Resources Distinguished Staff Service Award for Leadership, four staff members received the <\/span>President\u2019s Distinguished Staff Service Award for Outstanding Contributions<\/span><\/a>, which <\/span>recognizes permanent staff members who have provided outstanding contributions to the working environment at Brock. This year\u2019s winners were:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
