Brock University\u2019s scientific research centrepiece is being re-named. The Cairns Family Health and Bioscience Research Complex is now to be known as the Roy and Lois Cairns Health and Bioscience Research Complex.<\/p>\n
On Dec. 5, the University\u2019s Board of Trustees voted to specifically recognize the couple whose gift helped create the teaching, learning and research landmark. The facility is named for the late St. Catharines lawyer and businessman Roy Cairns and Lois, his wife, whose $10-million impact gift helped complete the complex, which opened in 2012.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Board of Trustees remains extremely thankful to Roy and Lois\u2019 generosity and vision,\u201d said Board Chair Gary Comerford. \u201cThe name of the complex is new. However, the innovation, discovery and community service and education that has been happening there will continue to demonstrate the academic and research excellence of Brock.\u201d<\/p>\n
University President Gervan Fearon said \u201cphilanthropic gifts are vital in assisting Brock to achieve its goals in serving students, researchers and the Niagara community.\u201d<\/p>\n
