Brock Nursing students will be collecting donations <\/span>Thursday, Nov. 21 <\/span>in exchange for coffee and treats in support of the Alzheimer Society of Niagara Region.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The annual Coffee Break at Brock University is part of a national initiative to raise funds and awareness in support of programs that offer personalized support and education to people living with Alzheimer\u2019s disease and other dementias, their family members and caregivers, and community partners.<\/span><\/p>\n

Students, staff and faculty are invited to stop by Market Hall Thursday, Nov. 21 from <\/span>9 a.m. to 3 p.m. <\/span>for coffee and treats, such as chocolates, candy, muffins and cookies. Cash donations of any amount are appreciated.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Lead organizer, Nadia <\/span>Potapov<\/span>, a third-year Nursing student, became involved with the event in her first year and has since developed a passion for volunteering and for the organization.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThrough my experience with clinical placements<\/span>, I\u2019ve realized how much Alzheimer\u2019s <\/span>d<\/span>isease affects individuals and their families<\/span>,\u201d she said. “<\/span>As a student and future nurse, I <\/span>strive to<\/span> go the extra mile to help my patients<\/span>;<\/span> raising money is one way I can do this. For an organization that depends on donations for one-third of their funding, events like the Coffee Break can make all the difference.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Last year\u2019s Brock event raised $636.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
