{"id":61266,"date":"2019-10-15T08:37:44","date_gmt":"2019-10-15T12:37:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=61266"},"modified":"2019-10-15T08:37:44","modified_gmt":"2019-10-15T12:37:44","slug":"acclaimed-music-documentary-screening-at-bufs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2019\/10\/acclaimed-music-documentary-screening-at-bufs\/","title":{"rendered":"Acclaimed music documentary screening at BUFS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At 77, rock legend David Crosby has more than a few tales to tell \u2014 about the house in the song \u201cOur House,\u201d for example, or the song Joni Mitchell wrote to break up with him \u2014 and he shares some of the best\u00a0in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ln9dtQ8tuKk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>David Crosby: Remember My Name<\/em><\/a>, playing at BUFS this Thursday at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>To many, David Crosby\u2019s name would be hard to forget, headlining some of the biggest acts in rock history. But this documentary aims to show more about the man behind the headlines, from hard drugs and prison time to horse ranches and heart procedures \u2014 all directly from the source. Producer Cameron Crowe interviews Crosby and filmmaker A. J. Eaton takes him on a tour of Laurel Canyon to reminisce about a life lived in front of a microphone.<\/p>\n<p>Nominated for a Grand Jury Prize at Sundance in 2019, <em>David Crosby: Remember My Name<\/em>\u00a0is director Eaton\u2019s feature-length documentary debut.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe film\u2019s engine runs on a flicker of humanity in Crosby that nothing can extinguish,&#8221;\u00a0says Joel Selvin of the <em>San Francisco Chronicle<\/em>. &#8220;The glint in his eyes may have dimmed, but he is a resolute fighter, ready for his next bout.\u00a0He can muster considerable charm and sing like a bird. In the end, that is what always got him by and why this film is as engaging and seductive as Crosby himself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tickets for all BUFS shows are available at the Film House in the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre (PAC) on the evening of screenings. General admission is $9.50 or $7 for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/firstontariopac.ca\/Online\/default.asp?BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::permalink=FilmHouseMembership&amp;BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::context_id=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Film House members<\/a>, plus tax.
