mental health week seeking events"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Who wouldn&#8217;t benefit from more nature walks, puppy rooms and coping skills in their life?<\/p>\n<p>From Monday, Nov. 11 to Friday, Nov. 15, Thrive Week, a weeklong initiative open to Brock students, faculty and staff to encourage positive mental health, is returning to campus for the third time.<\/p>\n<p>In order to continue to make the event a success, campus partners are needed to lead events and workshops designed to educate, reduce stigma and promote conversation about mental health.\u00a0<span data-contrast=\"auto\">Events <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">can <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">be led by <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">department<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s, students, staff or faculty members and can <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">take place anywhere on campus.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Events can be created that:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"2\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Educate the community about positive mental health and what it means to thrive\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233279&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"2\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Develop skills that can be used to build and maintain positive health<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"2\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Support individual self-care and resiliency<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"2\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">P<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">romote physical activity to manage stress and\/or boost mental well-being<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Although the organizing committee encourages events developed specifically for Thrive Week, they don&#8217;t need to be.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cMany times, departments have workshops or activities already planned as part of their regular programming that they can duplicate or strategically schedule for Thrive Week,\u201d said Julie Fennel, Health Promotion Educator with Brock&#8217;s Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre who is co-chair of the Thrive Week committee alongside Kelli Romain, Transition and Support Co-<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ordinator<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> with the Department of Residences.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cThere is also some amazing research taking place on campus our prof<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">essors<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and graduate students could share with the Brock community<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201d<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> said Fennel.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">online<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> by Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 4:30 p.m. The committee will schedule rooms and equipment and will help co-ordinate event developed by <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">the University of British Columbia in 2009 <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">has been picked up by post-secondary institutions across the country<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, including Brock.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre is working in partnership with Aboriginal Student Services, Active Minds Association, Brock International, Community Addiction Services <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">o<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">f Niagara, Development and Alumni<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Relations,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0the Faith and Life Centre, Human Resources, Human Rights and Equity, Student Life and Community Experience, Residence, and University Marketing and Communications to deliver programming available for the entire Brock community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span
