Nominations will be accepted until Friday, July 19 at 5 p.m. Interested members of the Brock community, including faculty, staff and students, can find details about the application process and committee requirements on <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/human-rights\/pachred\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brock\u2019s Human Rights and Equity website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Chair of the Nominations Committee, Tamara El-Hoss, said PACHRED provides the opportunity to meet a wide range of people concerned with issues of equity, and allows formal and informal spaces for discussion and debate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe working groups prioritize the key issues that constitute the work of the larger committee, including anti-ableism and mental health, anti-racism task force, decolonization, employment equity, LGBTQ+, and sexual violence prevention,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Reporting to the President, PACHRED identifies issues, provides a forum for discussion and makes recommendations for action. The committee\u2019s meetings are open to all members of the Brock community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven the increasing normalization of issues like xenophobia and religious intolerance, PACHRED offers a particularly important venue for making the University a more inclusive and safe space for students, staff and faculty,\u201d said El-Hoss.<\/p>\n<p>Incoming Faculty Chair Shannon Moore hopes to see applications from a diverse range of Brock community members.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPACHRED is inclusive and seeks diverse\u00a0viewpoints and issues from the whole of Brock&#8217;s community to bring forward for discussion and action,\u201d she said. \u201cMembership is an opportunity to promote a culture of human rights and to\u00a0address the various\u00a0challenges of\u00a0equity and decolonization in order to make Brock a better place to learn and work for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>PACHRED is comprised of representatives from campus groups and individual members. Around half of the members from 2018\/19 will be continuing their membership next year.
