Brock University is saddened to learn of the death of longtime employee Dorothy Krynicki (BA \u201913), Administrative Assistant in Political Science, who passed away Tuesday, June 25 at the age of 53.<\/p>\n
Throughout her 18 years at Brock, Krynicki held administrative assistant positions with several departments, including Management, Marketing and Human Resource Management; Dramatic Arts; and Political Science, where she has worked since 2008.<\/p>\n
\u201cBrock was more than a job for Dorothy,\u201d said Paul Hamilton, Associate Professor of Political Science and Krynicki\u2019s supervisor. \u201cShe was so involved and engaged with the University and the community; I think that\u2019s one of the things about her I was so struck by.\u201d<\/p>\n
Krynicki was the driving force behind renaming a campus road in honour of Flora Egerter<\/a>, a member of the Allanburg Women\u2019s Institute who helped rally support for an institute of higher education in Niagara, which ultimately led to the establishment of Brock University. Krynicki also fundraised enough money to create a plaque detailing the significance of the road\u2019s name.<\/p>\n \u201cDorothy\u2019s unfailing devotion to students, faculty and staff was evident in the enthusiasm and good will with\u00a0which she participated in activities across the University and served as an ambassador for Brock in the wider community,\u201d said Ingrid Makus, Dean for the Faculty of Social Sciences.<\/p>\n A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, July 2 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria, 3 Lyman St., St. Catharines.<\/p>\n In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria or to Brock University in support of a graduate student award.
