{"id":59046,"date":"2019-06-26T13:17:00","date_gmt":"2019-06-26T17:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=59046"},"modified":"2019-07-08T13:06:18","modified_gmt":"2019-07-08T17:06:18","slug":"brock-badgers-score-new-mens-basketball-coach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2019\/06\/brock-badgers-score-new-mens-basketball-coach\/","title":{"rendered":"Brock Badgers score new men\u2019s basketball coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Brock Badgers have reached into the dynastic Carleton University basketball program to find the new head coach for the Brock men\u2019s basketball team.<\/p>\n<p>Willy Manigat, who has won three national university basketball titles as a player and two as a coach, will become the ninth coach in the history of the Brock men\u2019s program. His appointment takes effect July 5.<\/p>\n<p>Manigat spent the past four years with the Carleton Ravens, who have won 14 of the last 17 national championships. He served as lead assistant coach for the 2018-19 season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWilly is a winner,\u201d said Brian Hutchings, Brock\u2019s Vice-President, Administration. \u201cEvery team he has played for or coached with has a winning record. He is a hard-working coach who players want to play for and train with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Manigat is looking forward to leading the Badgers, who recorded a total record of 18-9 last season and reached the OUA Wilson Cup Final Four for a second consecutive year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery single time the Niagara region comes out to watch our games, they\u2019re going to leave proud of what they saw on the floor,\u201d Manigat said. \u201cI want to make Niagara proud, so we\u2019re going to be a tough-minded team.
