{"id":58878,"date":"2019-06-17T14:59:28","date_gmt":"2019-06-17T18:59:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=58878"},"modified":"2019-06-17T14:59:28","modified_gmt":"2019-06-17T18:59:28","slug":"website-launched-to-gather-input-on-brocks-first-people-strategy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2019\/06\/website-launched-to-gather-input-on-brocks-first-people-strategy\/","title":{"rendered":"Website launched to gather input on Brock&#8217;s first People Strategy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As work continues on Brock\u2019s inaugural People Strategy, the University is seeking input from the Brock and broader Niagara communities.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2019\/04\/feedback-needed-on-brocks-first-people-strategy-to-attract-and-retain-top-talent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">People Strategy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a plan that will focus on building a strong and positive work environment and organizational culture where employees have what they need to be successful.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It looks at what work environment and culture we need to build in order to attract good people, keep them at Brock and help them grow in their careers,\u201d said Neil Culp, Director, HR Strategic Projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Faculty, staff, students and community members are invited to offer their honest thoughts and perspectives regarding the University\u2019s capabilities and organizational culture, as well as employee retention and development via a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/people-strategy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">newly developed website<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Feedback is anonymous.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over the past several months, University leadership has conducted an external environmental scan focused on the labour market, work-related trends and factors impacting the post-secondary sector. An internal scan was also conducted focusing on topics such as employee demographics, engagement, retention, movement and development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most recently, 12 focus groups involving 102 employees have taken place to gather candid feedback about the University\u2019s practices and culture. As more focus groups are planned, they will be posted to<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/hr\/training\/focus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Focus on Learning<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although the University is seeking perspectives from students and community members who regularly connect with Brock and its services, feedback from Brock staff and faculty is especially wanted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cInput from our employees is crucial to the development of the People Strategy and to the future of Brock University,\u201d said Jennifer Guarasci, Associate Vice-President, Human Resources. \u201cOur faculty and staff spend a good part of their lives on campus and experience organizational culture first-hand. They are the people who will be impacted most by the new plan.
