{"id":57615,"date":"2019-04-23T10:17:24","date_gmt":"2019-04-23T14:17:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=57615"},"modified":"2019-04-23T16:21:06","modified_gmt":"2019-04-23T20:21:06","slug":"nomination-deadline-nearing-for-board-of-trustees-staff-representative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2019\/04\/nomination-deadline-nearing-for-board-of-trustees-staff-representative\/","title":{"rendered":"Nomination deadline nearing for Board of Trustees staff representative"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nominations are open until Friday, April 26 for the ongoing staff representative position available on Brock\u2019s Board of Trustees.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All ongoing staff of the University are eligible to serve in the elected position, except those who report directly to the President or to a Vice-President. The role\u2019s three-year term commences July 1, following an election held in May by the University Secretariat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brock\u2019s Board of Trustees is one of two governing bodies of the University (along with Senate) and is responsible for the government, conduct, management and control of the University and of its property, revenues, expenditures, business and affairs. As a member of the Board, the staff representative will actively engage and participate in discussions and decision-making that affect the University, and will be appointed to a Board Committee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Time and commitment are required in preparing for and actively attending the Board and Committee meetings, normally held five times throughout the academic year from September to June.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">General bylaws require the Board to include two ongoing staff members, elected by ongoing staff of the University, to serve staggered three-year terms.
