One slide. No notes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eight graduate students will take on Three Minute Thesis (3MT) challenge Thursday, April 4 during the preliminary round of Brock\u2019s seventh annual contest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A global competition that originated in Queensland, Australia, 3MT challenges students to present their research in three minutes to an audience of non-scientists in understandable language.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The preliminary round of the Brock competition begins at noon in Pond Inlet. Guests who arrive after the beginning of the event will only be able to enter the room in between presentations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Semi-finalists\u00a0will advance to the University\u2019s final round held during the Faculty of Graduate Studies\u2019 annual Mapping the New Knowledges Graduate Student Conference on Thursday, April 11. From there, the winner will compete at the provincial 3MT\u00a0championship to be held the following week at McMaster University.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year\u2019s competitors represent many of Brock&#8217;s Faculties and topics range from chronic pain self-management to intervention programs for infants at risk of autism spectrum disorder.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The entire Brock community is invited to attend the 3MT preliminary round to learn about some of the interesting research happening at Brock. The competition will be followed by a reception and a chance to interact with the presenters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year\u2019s Three Minute Thesis presenters include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alicia Azzano (Master of Arts \u2014 Applied Disability Studies): Parent-Mediated Targeted Intervention for Infants At-Risk for Autism Spectrum Disorder<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fares Belkhiria (Master of Science \u2014 Management (Marketing)): Does e-government always &#8220;fit&#8221;?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jordan Gallant (Master of Arts \u2014 Applied Linguistics): Co-activation in the Bilingual Lexicon<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nicole Gavin (Master of Arts \u2014 Classics): A Sunken City of Stone Age Sailors<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dianne Grant (Master of Arts \u2014 Applied Disability Studies): Significance of learning to read well from Grade 1 to 4<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Margaret Hughes (Master of Science \u2014 Biology): Impacts of biodiversity on vineyard ecology and pest control<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rachel Richmond (Master of Arts \u2014 Applied Health Sciences): A Phenomenological Analysis of Chronic Pain Self-Management<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jennifer Wilkinson (Master of Science \u2014 Applied Health Sciences): Increasing membrane saturation promotes release of cytochrome c in synthetic membrane model to support mitochondrial-mediated cell death<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three minutes.
