{"id":56908,"date":"2019-03-20T08:30:38","date_gmt":"2019-03-20T12:30:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=56908"},"modified":"2019-03-20T18:22:34","modified_gmt":"2019-03-20T22:22:34","slug":"researcher-to-focus-on-product-greenwashing-at-goodman-talk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2019\/03\/researcher-to-focus-on-product-greenwashing-at-goodman-talk\/","title":{"rendered":"Researcher to focus on product greenwashing at Goodman talk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With consumers placing an increased focus on environmentally friendly products, some firms participate in greenwashing \u2014 the practice of making misleading claims about environmental benefits \u2014 while hiding their true performance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this week\u2019s instalment of the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/goodman\/faculty-research\/luncheon-speaker-series\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Goodman Luncheon Speaker Series<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Samir Trabelsi, Professor of Accounting at the Goodman School of Business, will present his co-researched paper \u201cThe level of greenwashing and cost of equity capital.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The talk will discuss the financial implications of companies using greenwashing as part of their marketing plan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The speaker series provides an informal opportunity to listen to and discuss recent advances in research, teaching and practices with international business colleagues.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The talk will run from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in Goodman School of Business Room 205.
