{"id":56615,"date":"2019-03-07T09:57:21","date_gmt":"2019-03-07T14:57:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=56615"},"modified":"2019-03-25T11:30:07","modified_gmt":"2019-03-25T15:30:07","slug":"nominations-open-for-teaching-excellence-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2019\/03\/nominations-open-for-teaching-excellence-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Nominations open for teaching excellence awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Members of Brock\u2019s academic community are invited to submit nominations for the University\u2019s 2019 Chancellor\u2019s Chairs for Teaching Excellence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since 2005, Brock\u2019s Centre for Pedagogical Innovation (CPI) has administered the awards, which offer three recipients $5,000 per year for three years to pursue innovative projects in teaching, learning and\/or educational technology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The awards are sponsored by the Office of the Provost and Vice-President, Academic and encourage Chairs to develop projects that are at the forefront of teaching and learning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Previous Chairs\u2019 projects have included using 3D hardware to enhance online class discussions, preparing students to work in team-oriented environments in the health-care field and gauging students\u2019 perceptions of Wikipedia use through a graduate-level assignment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year\u2019s submissions are due by April 15 and require contact information for up to four references, a short abstract of the research proposal, details of the program, as well as a recent teaching dossier.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New Teaching Excellence Chair appointments will be effective July 1.
