{"id":56570,"date":"2019-03-06T11:50:01","date_gmt":"2019-03-06T16:50:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=56570"},"modified":"2019-03-06T11:50:01","modified_gmt":"2019-03-06T16:50:01","slug":"international-students-sought-for-annual-ambassador-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2019\/03\/international-students-sought-for-annual-ambassador-program\/","title":{"rendered":"International students sought for annual ambassador program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brock international students with a passion for their home away from home have the chance to represent the University, sharing their experience with peers around the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The search is on for 10 outstanding students to participate in the annual<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/international\/future\/international-student-ambassadors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">International Student Ambassador Award Program<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the 2019-20 academic year. The initiative recognizes international students who exemplify the mission and vision of Brock, as a result of high academic achievements and\/or community engagement, both on and off campus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBeing an ambassador means embodying Brock\u2019s spirit and showcasing it to the world,\u201d said third-year Biotechnology student Marcelo Correa, an International Student Ambassador from Brazil.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It also means relief from significant financial burden. Selected students having their international tuition fees reduced to the domestic rate \u2014 a discount of about $18,000.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now entering its third year, the program annually enlists students to share their experiences and answer questions for prospective students abroad.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe ambassador award has been so much more than just a scholarship to me,\u201d said International Student Ambassador Ana Ferreira, a second-year Kinesiology student from Trinidad and Tobago. \u201cI have loved every moment of getting to connect with students and representing the school I love.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The student ambassadors work with Brock International to meet with prospective students from around the world, highlighting what life is like at the University, both inside and outside of the classroom.
