{"id":56248,"date":"2019-02-20T09:04:04","date_gmt":"2019-02-20T14:04:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=56248"},"modified":"2019-02-22T12:41:40","modified_gmt":"2019-02-22T17:41:40","slug":"senate-election-process-to-begin-feb-25","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2019\/02\/senate-election-process-to-begin-feb-25\/","title":{"rendered":"Senate election process to begin Feb. 25"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The process for the election of full-time teaching staff and professional librarians to Brock\u2019s 2019-20 Senate is due to begin Monday, Feb. 25.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any member of the full-time teaching staff and any professional librarian is eligible to serve on Senate provided they are not on a leave of three months or longer during the academic year. Senate meets regularly from September to May.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In accordance with the <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brock University Act <\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and the Senate Bylaws set out in the Faculty Handbook, any member of the full-time teaching staff and any professional librarian is eligible to vote in the Senate election, whether they are on leave or not at the time of the election. The definition of full-time teaching staff includes all teaching faculty members: tenure-track, probationary, limited term, Department Chairs, Associate Deans, research associates and assistants and post-doctoral appointees, as well as any employee engaged full time in the work of teaching or research.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The electorate list will be distributed on Monday, Feb. 25 and nominations will open at that time. Any corrections to the electorate list may be submitted to the University Secretary within the five days between Feb. 25 and March 2. \u00a0Nomination forms signed by at least four persons eligible to vote in the election will be due to the Secretary of Senate in the Office of the University Secretariat by <\/span><b>Monday, March 11 at 4:30 p.m. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Candidates are encouraged to submit a candidate statement of a maximum of 200 words with their nomination, also by <\/span><b>Monday, March 11 at 4:30 p.m.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Electronic voting will begin <\/span><b>Friday, March 15<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at <\/span><b>8:30 a.m. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and will close <\/span><b>Monday, March 25 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at <\/span><b>4:30 p.m<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
