A golden networking opportunity awaits Brock students in Niagara Falls.<\/p>\n
Brock\u2019s Golden Key chapter has been chosen to host the international honour society\u2019s National CANCON Leadership Summit, which will welcome visitors from across Canada and around the world.<\/p>\n
Though Golden Key is accessible to the top 15 per cent of students in each Faculty, the Brock chapter\u2019s president, Daislyn Vidal, hopes other students from the University will also consider attending CANCON from Friday, Feb. 22 to Sunday Feb. 24.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a chance to meet people and listen to two keynote speakers,\u201d said the fourth-year Biological Sciences student at Brock. \u201cThey\u2019ll learn about different career fields and also interact with other people in a professional setting. It\u2019s a great way to develop as a university student who is getting ready to go out into the workplace.\u201d<\/p>\n
Keynote speakers include Brock alumna and two-time Paralympian Jessica Lewis (BRLS \u201918), who will talk to those in attendance about finding, fulfilling and achieving their purpose and dreams, and One More Story Games CEO Jean Leggett, who will speak about the Games’ startup journey, joy, mindfulness and her experience as a hard-of-hearing child in a deaf family.<\/p>\n
As the world\u2019s largest post-secondary honour society, Golden Key currently has 19 active Canadian chapters and more than 400 chapters worldwide.<\/p>\n
Vidal says the Brock chapter is honoured to host this year\u2019s CANCON event, which includes nine workshops to take part in and a diverse group of participants from across the country and around the globe.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will be involved in every aspect,\u201d she said. \u201cOur executive will be introducing the different speakers and we are ready for any requests or other contingencies that take place.\u201d<\/p>\n
Having taken care of all of the necessary preparation, Vidal is eager to interact with those in attendance.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can\u2019t wait to network with other high-achieving students and form great connections,\u201d she said. \u201cYou never know who might be able to help you out in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
