A new formalized service through the Brock Campus Store offers students, staff and faculty a reduced rate to mail personal packages.<\/p>\n
Textbook Buyer Assistant Leah McBeaudry says that thanks to an already-established agreement with the United Parcel Service (UPS), prices are typically lower than those offered by other delivery services.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople are pleasantly surprised when they receive a quote,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n
Charges are based on where the items are being shipped, as well as their size and weight. For example, a box up to five pounds would cost $10 to ship within Ontario, $20 within Canada or $25 to the continental United States. Smaller items, such as envelopes, may cost even less.<\/p>\n
McBeaudry says that the University has offered a personal shipping service to the campus community for several years, however, it was only recently formalized.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor a while there, we were bouncing people back and forth between the Campus Store and the mailroom. I noticed an increasing interest in personal shipping, so I proposed a process that would make it easier for people to access the University\u2019s service,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n
Brock community members interested in taking advantage of the reduced shipping rates are asked to fill out an online courier service form<\/a>. Once the form is filled out, bring it and the parcel to McBeaudry at the Campus Store\u2019s textbook window any time between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday to Friday. She\u2019ll then weigh and measure the boxes to determine price.<\/p>\n Payment can be made at the Campus Store cash registers via cash, debit, credit, Brock Card or Apple Pay.
