{"id":55921,"date":"2019-01-31T11:01:26","date_gmt":"2019-01-31T16:01:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=55921"},"modified":"2019-01-31T15:25:45","modified_gmt":"2019-01-31T20:25:45","slug":"contest-to-connect-students-with-top-industry-professionals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2019\/01\/contest-to-connect-students-with-top-industry-professionals\/","title":{"rendered":"Contest to connect students with top industry professionals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s not every day students are given the chance to meet with a high-ranking professional in their field.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, thanks to an upcoming initiative from Brock\u2019s Co-op, Career and Experiential Education (CCEE) team, two worthy students will be given the chance to sit down for a sought-after meeting with a professional from an organization of their choice anywhere in Ontario.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Lunch with a Leader contest asks students to complete an online application about why they should be selected and to submit a video interview about their choice of organization and the overall benefits of the experience. Once the answers have been paired with a resum\u00e9 and unofficial grade record, a judging committee will decide the two winners based on academic performance, career aspirations and overall presentation<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cara Krezek, Director of CCEE, says the competition showcases the ability of Brock\u2019s CCEE team to connect students with valuable resources and contacts as they start their careers while also giving employer partners a glimpse into Brock\u2019s deep pool of talented students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt\u2019s a chance for students to network and get in front of someone they may not have been able to meet without our assistance and guidance,\u201d she said. \u201cWe hope this will help facilitate their success going forward and provide them with an opportunity to demonstrate their skills and talents.
