Shortages\u00a0appeared almost immediately\u00a0after recreational cannabis sales began last October.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Provincial distributors subsequently blamed producers and federal regulators. Lacking stock, Qu\u00e9bec\u00a0closed stores three days a week.\u00a0Alberta froze retailer licensing\u00a0and\u00a0Ontario limited store licences to 25.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Medical cannabis shortfall concerns\u00a0appeared even earlier. Some users worried producers were prioritizing more lucrative recreational products or overseas markets.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In response, federal regulators pointed to increasing\u00a0industry inventories and\u00a0producer licences. Producers blamed\u00a0new-industry growing pains and regulatory red tape.
