In an effort to maximize success for a growing number of international students, Brock International Services is offering enhanced support throughout final exam season.<\/span><\/p>\n

The extra assistance begins Thursday, Nov. 29 with\u00a0<\/span>Exams with Less Stress<\/span><\/a>, an event that connects participants with senior students from the same program to talk exams and gain helpful memory-boosting tips.<\/span><\/p>\n

Academic advisors, personal counsellors, international student advisors and international student ambassadors will also be in attendance to help participants learn to manage stress for upcoming exams. <\/span><\/p>\n

The event,\u00a0held in partnership with Brock\u2019s Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre, runs from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the International Global Commons (GLB 104).\u00a0<\/span>Registration is not required.<\/span><\/p>\n

Various workshops, individual appointments, study groups and drop-in services will also be available until Thursday, Dec. 20 to help students feel more confident heading into their exams.<\/span><\/p>\n

Colleen Taylor, Language Support Specialist, and Tolkin Yunusov, Academic Skills Support Specialist for Brock International Services, both understand the added pressure of studying for final exams and will be available to offer assistance.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMany international students face challenges and barriers while integrating into Canadian academic environments,\u201d said Yunusov. \u201cOur programming creates a transnational learning space where they can develop a sense of belonging.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The pair offer academic and language support to international students, including workshops that focus on a variety of relevant skills for final exams, such as academic writing, research and citation, group work, presentation delivery, speaking, planning and preparing assignments and exams, and critical thinking and reading.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is essential for international students to participate in academic and language support programming,\u201d said Taylor. \u201cParticipating in both of these services improves academic abilities, enhances oral and written language skills, and encourages socialization with international students from all around the world.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Taylor added that services provided by Brock International \u201caid new students to acclimatize easier to scholastic culture, excel in their studies and stress far less about their studies. This results in happier, more prosperous students.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Registration for the workshops is required, as space is limited, and can be done online through<\/span> Brock International\u2019s website.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

International students will also have access to exclusive study spaces starting Wednesday, Dec. 5.<\/span><\/p>\n

Whether in need of a quiet place to study, tips on essay writing or support from other students, these spaces are meant to provide a renewed sense of confidence heading into finals. Students can find the dates, times and locations of available study spaces by visiting the <\/span>International Student Support website.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n
