Next in the Brock University Film Society (BUFS) lineup is a charming romantic comedy that just might be an antidote for the early winter blues.<\/span><\/p>\n

Juliet, Naked<\/span><\/em>, <\/span><\/i>directed by Jesse Peretz (<\/span>Our Idiot Brother<\/span>, <\/span>Girls<\/span><\/em>), will be screened at the Film House in downtown St. Catharines on Thursday, Nov. 15.<\/span><\/p>\n

Based on the novel of the same name by Nick Hornby, <\/span>Juliet, Naked<\/span><\/em> stars Rose Byrne, Chris O\u2019Dowd and a singing Ethan Hawke. The soundtrack features songs by The Pretenders, Ray Davies, Marianne Faithfull and The Stone Poneys. <\/span><\/p>\n

The movie follows Annie (Byrne),the long-suffering girlfriend of Duncan (O\u2019Dowd) who is obsessed with obscure rocker Tucker Crowe (Hawke). When <\/span>Juliet, Naked<\/span><\/em>, the acoustic demo of Tucker\u2019s hit record from 25 years ago surfaces, its release leads to a life-changing encounter with the elusive rocker himself.<\/span><\/p>\n

ReelViews <\/span><\/em>assures viewers that this romcom \u201ccomes with weightier issues and doesn’t fill up its screen time with inane tangents and dumb jokes.\u201d According to the <\/span>Minneapolis Star Tribune<\/span><\/em>, the audience gets \u201ca feeling that everyone making (<\/span>Juliet, Naked<\/span><\/i>) was in a good mood and wanted the same for the rest of us.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Tickets for all BUFS shows are available at the Film House in the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre (PAC) on the evening of screenings. General admission is $9 or $7 for members, plus tax.\u00a0<\/span>Memberships are available through the <\/span>Film House website<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
