The director of Brock\u2019s Social Justice Research Institute, Rebecca Raby, sees mutual benefits for Brock researchers and Niagara community organizations when they work together.<\/p>\n
She hopes an upcoming event will help make key introductions to get some of those partnerships started.<\/p>\n
By bringing community leaders together with Brock faculty and student researchers, Making a Difference in Niagara: University-Community Research Collaborations is intended to facilitate both short-term, community-based research projects and more enduring community-university research relationships.<\/p>\n
Raby calls it something of a “match-making event” that will enable a selection of community organizations to present their research needs to Brock faculty members and students who are concerned about social justice issues.<\/p>\n
Making a Difference in Niagara: University-Community Research Collaborations will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8 in PLZ600F and is open to everyone.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe look forward to deepening research collaborations with local community groups,” says Raby, Professor in the Department of Child and Youth Studies.<\/p>\n
The event will include opportunities for conversation with several community organizations, including\u00a0Niagara\u00a0Regional Homelessness\u00a0<\/span>Services<\/span>, Start Me Up Niagara, TOES Niagara, and the Niagara Folk Arts Multicultural Centre.<\/p>\n
