Members of the Brock community are invited to attend a series of student information system (SIS) presentations this week.<\/p>\n
The University\u2019s current SIS is made up of more than a dozen individual applications and databases. A new unified platform will include student-centric functions such as admission progress, course registration, as well as streamlined access to program information, degree status and employee assistance.<\/p>\n
Beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, representatives from Workday Student will lead five presentations in the boardroom on the 13th floor of Schmon Tower.<\/p>\n
Presentations are grouped by community members\u2019 roles, however, students, staff and faculty are welcome to register<\/a> for any of the following sessions:<\/p>\n The presentations will also be available to watch live online<\/a>.<\/p>\n As part of the SIS modernization project\u2019s assessment phase, the University will be evaluating Workday Student against its current and future technology needs.<\/p>\n The assessment phase also includes a survey<\/a> that will help identify existing challenges of the University\u2019s current SIS and suggest opportunities for the new system.<\/p>\n A kickoff event<\/a> that took place in September addressed the project\u2019s mission, goals and timelines, as well as how it aligns with Brock\u2019s strategic plan and the University\u2019s strategic mandate agreement with Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development.<\/p>\n Camille Rutherford, Associate Vice-Provost, Student Information Services, opened the event by stressing the importance of user experience to student success.<\/p>\n \u201cThe project is much more than a new technology implementation,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s going to provide us with an opportunity to do a better job of ensuring that every student has the confidence and competence to thrive. And that we have the information and resources available to us to best support them.\u201d<\/p>\n Students, staff and faculty can watch a video recording of the event online.<\/a><\/p>\n The project\u2019s assessment phase is expected to continue until mid-December, with pre-implementation beginning next year. Implementation is expected in 2020 with a go-live date in 2021.<\/p>\n\n
