{"id":54218,"date":"2018-11-05T09:29:42","date_gmt":"2018-11-05T14:29:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=54218"},"modified":"2018-11-05T15:09:16","modified_gmt":"2018-11-05T20:09:16","slug":"fahrenheit-11-9-next-in-bufs-lineup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2018\/11\/fahrenheit-11-9-next-in-bufs-lineup\/","title":{"rendered":"Fahrenheit 11\/9 next in BUFS lineup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The state of politics in the United States is placed under the microscope in the latest offering by the Brock University Film Society (BUFS).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Michael Moore\u2019s <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fahrenheit 11\/9 <\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be s<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">creened at the Film House on Thursday, Nov. 8.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The humour at the beginning of the film <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">soon takes a sinister twist, with audiences warned that the U.S. is not immune to the horrors that befell Weimar Germany.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moore predicted that Donald Trump would become the 45th president of the United States. Travelling across the country, he interviews American citizens to get a sense of the social, economic and political impact of Trump&#8217;s victory. Moore also takes an in-depth look at the media, the Electoral College, the government agenda and his hometown of Flint, Michigan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vulture<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, \u201cThis isn\u2019t [Moore\u2019s] smoothest film, but it\u2019s his fullest and most original. It\u2019s also his most urgent, which is really saying something. It\u2019s one of the most urgent films ever made.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tickets are available at the Film House in the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre on the evening of screenings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">General admission is $9 or $7 for members, plus tax.
