{"id":54173,"date":"2018-11-02T11:00:11","date_gmt":"2018-11-02T15:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=54173"},"modified":"2018-11-02T14:52:44","modified_gmt":"2018-11-02T18:52:44","slug":"animal-rights-at-centre-of-upcoming-public-talk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2018\/11\/animal-rights-at-centre-of-upcoming-public-talk\/","title":{"rendered":"Animal rights at centre of upcoming public talk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most Canadians are outraged by stories of animal abuse yet, paradoxically, Canada has the worst animal protection laws in the western world, says activist Camille Labchuk.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBut there\u2019s reason to be optimistic,\u201d says the animal rights lawyer and executive director of Animal Justice, who is giving a public talk at Brock next week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAnimal issues are making news headlines like never before, cases are being fought in court and new laws are finally being passed.
