Fullerton was given a demonstration of some of the equipment, including trying an interactive virtual reality system.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was wonderful to meet with the Minister today and showcase the exciting innovation and learning taking place in the Library Makerspace,\u201d said University Librarian Mark Robertson. \u201cThe students in the Makerspace spoke with her about the impact the facility has had on their experience at Brock and she expressed an appreciation for the role the Makerspace plays on our campus.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gervan Fearon said he was pleased that it was the students who were able to tell Fullerton about the Brock story.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were delighted to be able to host the Minister and have students share their Brock experience with her. Innovative spaces, such as the Makerspace and upcoming Brock LINC, are an important part of the experiential and entrepreneurial educational opportunities available to students at Brock and provide a collaborative learning environment for partnership with the local business community,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Fullerton also met with Dean Michael Owen and others from the Faculty of Education, where she learned more about one of Ontario\u2019s most significant education programs.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were delighted to have an\u00a0opportunity for our teacher candidates\u00a0to\u00a0connect with the\u00a0Minister about the strength of our programs\u00a0in the professional preparation of\u00a0Ontario\u2019s future educators,\u201d Owen said.<\/p>\n
Fullerton said she was impressed with what she saw at Brock.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe pairing of innovation and experiential learning is well-suited to preparing students for the jobs of tomorrow,\u201d she said. \u201cThank you to the students, faculty and staff for showcasing the best of the University.\u201d<\/p>\n
