But Israelis are instead worrying about other kinds of aerial fireworks.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Since April,\u00a0Palestinian protesters\u00a0have been flying fire-carrying kites and balloons across the Gaza-Israel border to set fields and forests ablaze. They\u2019ve also launched Gaza\u2019s first significant rocket attacks since 2014.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>These events are reminders that Israel and Gaza are only\u00a0one incident away from war. If full-blown conflict were to erupt,\u00a0recent research\u00a0suggests Israel\u2019s defences would minimize its casualties. However, Israel could not completely stop the attacks or their financial drain.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Kites versus quadcopters<\/em><br \/>\n<em>The\u00a0weaponized kites\u00a0resemble children\u2019s toys floating in the sky. But they carry\u00a0burning charcoal or oil-soaked rags\u00a0across the Israel-Gaza border to ignite fires wherever they land.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>These unplayful toys are increasingly sophisticated. Some now include time fuses that delay ignition until they cross the border.
