But it was the accompanying\u00a0call for product suppliers\u00a0that caught my eye as a business professor. It hints at OCRC\u2019s future relationships with cannabis growers and consumers.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Provincial approaches<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Every province except Saskatchewan will use its liquor agency as the central distributor of recreational cannabis. The agencies will buy it from licensed growers and ship it to retailers. But\u00a0each province will go its own way\u00a0regarding how cannabis will be sold to consumers.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Western provinces will mostly rely on businesses for retail sales. Manitoba for example has\u00a0accepted four applications\u00a0for province-wide cannabis chains. Alberta saw\u00a0226 applications for independent stores\u00a0in Calgary alone.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Meanwhile, eastern provinces will set up government-owned outlets. Nova Scotia will sell cannabis in\u00a0nine liquor stores. Quebec\u2019s liquor agency instead will set up dedicated stores.
