Dozens of students from high schools across Niagara have been given a financial boost as they prepare to begin their post-secondary education.<\/p>\n
For the\u00a0fourth\u00a0year in a row, Brock University has awarded the Niagara Principal\u2019s Scholarships to\u00a0two students from nearly every public, Catholic and private secondary school\u00a0in the region.<\/p>\n
Each of the\u00a062\u00a0students were awarded $2,500\u00a0toward the cost of their first-year tuition at Brock, for a total of\u00a0$155,000. To date, the Niagara Principal\u2019s Scholarship program has awarded more than\u00a0$575,000 to\u00a0231\u00a0students across the region.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis award is one example of Brock\u2019s commitment to the future of our region,\u201d said Beth Natale, Director, Recruitment and Retention. \u201cIt is critical that we invest in Niagara\u2019s future leaders, and what better way to put this idea into practice than to collaborate with the schools in our region to recognize the significant talent that is right here at home?\u201d<\/p>\n
She said the sizeable award could be the determining factor in a student\u2019s decision to pursue post-secondary education.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to do our part to ensure such inspired students have the resources needed to choose Brock and the Niagara region for their future,\u201d said Natale.<\/p>\n
The recipients for the scholarships are selected by the principal from each school based on a combination of academic achievements and the students\u2019 involvement in school and in the community.<\/p>\n\n\t
