Tasting and Testing invites students to join researchers from Brock University’s Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute (CCOVI) in an exploration of what makes juice and pop drinks so tasty. Using specialized software called Compusense, students will perform blind taste tests in Brock’s sensory evaluation lab before moving to the chemistry lab to analyze the sample. The unique balance of sugar and acid will be compared to determine which chemical composition tastes best.

As well, a new project — “The world’s your oyster” — provides students with the opportunity to build their own ecosystem using living species such as brine shrimp and algae.
