{"id":50682,"date":"2018-04-23T10:19:47","date_gmt":"2018-04-23T14:19:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=50682"},"modified":"2018-04-23T16:47:07","modified_gmt":"2018-04-23T20:47:07","slug":"brock-community-mourns-darrell-short","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2018\/04\/brock-community-mourns-darrell-short\/","title":{"rendered":"Brock community mourns Math employee Darrell Short"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brock University is mourning the loss of long-time employee Darrell Short, who spent nearly four decades working with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Short died Tuesday, April 17 at the age of 61.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He held many roles with the University over the years, including teaching assistant, instructor and course co-ordinator, and was known for helping and inspiring countless students in a multitude of courses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cHis contributions to the Department were immeasurable, touching the lives of students, faculty and staff members alike,\u201d said a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/mathematics-science\/mathematics\/2018\/04\/19\/condolences-to-the-family-of-darrell-short\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tribute on the Department&#8217;s website<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cHe will be missed very much by all of us.
