{"id":50624,"date":"2018-04-19T15:46:34","date_gmt":"2018-04-19T19:46:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=50624"},"modified":"2018-04-19T15:46:34","modified_gmt":"2018-04-19T19:46:34","slug":"goodman-remains-among-worlds-best-with-prestigious-business-accreditation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2018\/04\/goodman-remains-among-worlds-best-with-prestigious-business-accreditation\/","title":{"rendered":"Goodman remains among world\u2019s best with prestigious business accreditation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Brock University\u2019s Goodman School of Business has reaffirmed its place among the world\u2019s most acclaimed business programs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The business school has been re-accredited by<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aacsb.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s2\"> AACSB International\u2014The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB)<\/span><\/a>, the longest serving and most prestigious global accrediting body for business schools.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Fewer than five per cent of business degree-granting institutions around the world achieve an AACSB accreditation, the highest standard of achievement for business schools.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The re-accreditation is effective for the next five years and is an indication of Goodman\u2019s commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in business education.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">In January, Brock hosted a peer-review team comprised of senior leadership from other business schools across North America to assess Goodman\u2019s academic curriculum, staff support and research activities against the international accreditation standards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThis accreditation is not just about meeting the standards, it recognizes that there are always things to continuously improve upon,\u201d said Goodman School of Business Dean Andrew Gaudes. Goodman has been steadily identifying areas where the business school excels and can improve upon so that they can be addressed to exceed the AACSB expectations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThis is a tremendous accomplishment for Goodman to continue with AACSB accreditation since 2002,\u201d Gaudes said. \u201cWe continue to be confident that we not only meet the accreditation but also excel in this space in comparison to other business schools around the world.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Goodman\u2019s AACSB accreditation covers its six degree programs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Throughout the review process, Goodman\u2019s program size, faculty enthusiasm and experiential education opportunities, particularly through <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/goodman\/community\/service-learning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s2\">Service-Learning<\/span><\/a>, were noted as key areas of strength.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cAACSB congratulates the Goodman School of Business on extending its accreditation,\u201d said Stephanie M. Bryant, Executive Vice-President and Chief Accreditation Officer of AACSB International.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe intense peer-review process confirms a school\u2019s continued focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curricula development and student learning.
