{"id":50301,"date":"2018-04-04T14:44:03","date_gmt":"2018-04-04T18:44:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=50301"},"modified":"2018-04-04T14:44:36","modified_gmt":"2018-04-04T18:44:36","slug":"online-word-of-mouth-the-focus-of-goodman-talk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2018\/04\/online-word-of-mouth-the-focus-of-goodman-talk\/","title":{"rendered":"Online word of mouth the focus of Goodman talk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The final presentation in this year\u2019s Goodman School of Business Luncheon Speaker Series will focus on online word of mouth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thiagarajan Ravichandran, Irene and Robert Bozzone \u201955 Distinguished Chair and Professor of Information Systems at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, will visit Goodman Friday, April 6 to present his research on how companies should respond to online comments and reviews.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Businesses are faced with an increasing volume of customer reviews in online forums that can heavily influence customer attitudes and purchase decisions, requiring companies to be strategic in their responses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ravichandran will discuss research on theory-driven frameworks that have been developed to explore if and how businesses should respond to online reviews and how this can affect potential customers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In its 12th year, Goodman\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/goodman\/faculty-research\/luncheon-speaker-series\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Luncheon Speaker Series<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> provides an informal and engaging opportunity to listen and discuss recent advances in research, teaching and practices with colleagues internationally.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The event is being held in Sankey Chamber Friday, April 6 from noon to 1:30 p.m. Space is limited. Goodman faculty, staff and graduate students are invited to attend.
