{"id":50275,"date":"2018-04-03T11:56:55","date_gmt":"2018-04-03T15:56:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=50275"},"modified":"2018-04-04T08:57:46","modified_gmt":"2018-04-04T12:57:46","slug":"new-course-takes-close-look-at-illegal-drug-trade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2018\/04\/new-course-takes-close-look-at-illegal-drug-trade\/","title":{"rendered":"New course takes close look at illegal drug trade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Through a new course offering, the Department of Economics is delving deep into an issue that has long dominated news headlines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Taught by instructor Bob Koehn, ECON 2P34, \u201cThe Economics of Illicit Drugs,\u201d will be offered for the first time this spring \u2014 and with no prerequisites.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With daily stories about fentanyl, drug trafficking and the legalization of marijuana saturating news feeds, the course will offer students from many disciplines the opportunity to gain a new perspective on illicit drugs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEconomists have a framework to study all industries. The illicit drug market can be analyzed in terms of demand and supply.
