{"id":49609,"date":"2018-03-01T15:50:51","date_gmt":"2018-03-01T20:50:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=49609"},"modified":"2018-03-02T10:58:52","modified_gmt":"2018-03-02T15:58:52","slug":"global-scholars-office-offers-new-opportunities-abroad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2018\/03\/global-scholars-office-offers-new-opportunities-abroad\/","title":{"rendered":"Global Scholars Office offers new opportunities abroad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s a world of new possibilities available through Brock&#8217;s Global Scholars Office.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">International learning experiences equip young Canadians with the tools and skills to succeed in a rapidly changing, highly diverse and competitive global economy \u2014 and there&#8217;s no shortage of opportunities available abroad through Brock.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brock International\u2019s Global Scholars Office connects faculty and students with opportunities for scholarships or research funding around the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Below is a list of opportunities currently available to the Brock community:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>CONAHEC Faculty Exchange<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of Brock\u2019s newest partnerships, the Consortium for North American Higher Education Collaboration (CONAHEC) is seeking faculty members to collaborate in the partial design and teaching of a course.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A not-for-profit membership-based network, CONAHEC has about 180 institutional members of higher education in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico, as well as a select group of institutions from other parts of the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The purpose of this exchange program is to expose students to international faculty members, promote international curricula and joint teaching programs, integrate activities with students from universities in different countries and open doors to possibilities for future collaborations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Selected candidates will be expected to travel to the partner institution for one week during the Fall 2018 semester.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The deadline to apply is Friday, March 2. More information is available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/conahec.org\/short-term-faculty-exchange-program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CONAHEC website<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Korean Government Scholarship Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Republic of Korea has announced the Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) to promote international exchange in education, as well as fostering mutual friendship amongst the participating countries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Open to all master\u2019s and PhD fields of study, there are three scholarships available for Canadian applicants under the age of 40.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The value of the scholarships varies depending on the level of degree and field of study.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Research program support is also available for postdoctoral and professor exchange.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Successful candidates will be announced the week of June 20 and expected to arrive in Korea in August for the start of the fall semester.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The deadline to apply is Wednesday, March 21. More information is available on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.studyinkorea.go.kr\/en\/main.do\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KGSP website.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Organization of American States Academic Scholarships Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Organization of American States (OAS), a group of 35 independent states, has launched its 2018-19 Academic Scholarships Program.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One scholarship will be awarded to a Canadian to study or conduct research at the master\u2019s or PhD level in an OAS member state (excluding Canada) starting in August.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scholarship is valued at a maximum of $15,000 per academic year with benefits assigned on a case by case basis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some of the eligible countries of study include Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru, Saint Lucia and the U.S.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The deadline to apply is Wednesday, March 21. More information is available on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oas.org\/en\/scholarships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OAS website<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Academics Without Borders \u2014 call for project proposals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Academics Without Borders&#8217;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0university network enables member universities, such as Brock, to connect with institutions of higher education in some of the least developed countries in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the benefits of Brock belonging to their network is that our faculty, staff and administrators can submit proposals to AWB for projects that fall under their mission.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This call for project proposals is designed to build on established relationships between colleagues at a tertiary institution in a developing country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The deadline to apply is Friday, March 30.
