{"id":49546,"date":"2018-02-27T08:32:34","date_gmt":"2018-02-27T13:32:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=49546"},"modified":"2018-02-27T16:04:52","modified_gmt":"2018-02-27T21:04:52","slug":"senate-electorate-list-now-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2018\/02\/senate-electorate-list-now-available\/","title":{"rendered":"Senate electorate list now available"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In accordance with Senate bylaws, the University Secretariat has informed the Senate electorate of the current electorate list.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Based on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/webfm_send\/45025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">new Senate Electorate Guidelines<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> approved by Senate at its meeting on Jan. 17, the list is also being <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/webfm_send\/45117\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">posted on the Secretariat website<\/a> for the review of the broader University community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In accordance with those guidelines, any individual, including non-Senators, can seek a reconsideration by the Senate Election Subcommittee if they wish to be included in the electorate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brock University Act <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stipulates that Senate shall be composed of members of the full-time teaching staff, which is defined in the Act to include professors, lecturers, associates, instructors, demonstrators and all others engaged in the work of teaching or giving instruction or in research.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If any individual believes that they satisfy this definition but are not currently included in the Senate electorate list, they may submit a request to the Senate Election Subcommittee, outlining how they fall within the Act\u2019s definition, with reference to the Senate Electorate Guidelines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The request should include any relevant documentation, such as job descriptions or job postings.
