{"id":49450,"date":"2018-02-22T16:31:55","date_gmt":"2018-02-22T21:31:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=49450"},"modified":"2018-02-22T16:34:00","modified_gmt":"2018-02-22T21:34:00","slug":"brock-becomes-first-canadian-university-to-sign-scholarship-agreement-with-island-of-curacao","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2018\/02\/brock-becomes-first-canadian-university-to-sign-scholarship-agreement-with-island-of-curacao\/","title":{"rendered":"Brock becomes first Canadian university to sign scholarship agreement with island of Cura\u00e7ao"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The doors to a Canadian education have now been opened for students in the Caribbean island nation of Cura\u00e7ao.<\/p>\n<p>Located about 65 kilometres north of Venezuela in the Lesser Antilles, Cura\u00e7ao is known for its beaches, coral reefs and a strong education system with students eager to leave the island for their post-secondary education.<\/p>\n<p>A memorandum of understanding signed on Feb. 16 made Brock the first university in Canada to implement a scholarship agreement with the country.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement will enable Cura\u00e7aoan students to use their nation&#8217;s educational loan program (similar to OSAP in Ontario) to pay for an international education at Brock.
