The Brock University Students\u2019 Union wants to bring its concerts to the heart of St. Catharines.<\/p>\n
In an effort to get closer to where students are living, and to attract more community members to its events, BUSU is partnering with the new Warehouse Concert Hall run by Brock alumnus Erik Dickson for an upcoming concert.<\/p>\n
BUSU regular Craig Cardiff, a talented Canadian singer\/songwriter, will perform Tuesday, Feb. 13 at a show organized by BUSU, but hosted at Warehouse. It\u2019s the first time the students\u2019 union has hosted a concert outside the confines of Isaac\u2019s Bar and Grill.<\/p>\n
\u201cTypically we have events only for students, but we are trying new ways of growing our community,\u201d said Curtis Bell, Programming and Events Manager for BUSU. \u201cGoing to a downtown venue close to where students are living will also make for a better turnout.\u201d<\/p>\n
With a smaller capacity than Isaac\u2019s, Bell said Warehouse also makes sense for a Cardiff show, which typically draws a smaller, but loyal crowd.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe smaller venue works to our advantage. With the intimacy of Craig\u2019s shows, it will be a better experience for students and staff who come out.\u201d<\/p>\n
As he has done in the past, Cardiff will host a music workshop for Brock students at the University on Tuesday, Feb. 13 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. <\/strong>in the Student Justice Centre.<\/strong> For the Warehouse show that night, Brock student Nicole Henderson will open with an acoustic set starting at 7:30 p.m. before Cardiff hits the stage at 8 p.m.<\/p>\n Tickets are available on Ticketyfly.com<\/a> at $5 for Brock students or $15 in advance and $20 at the door for general admission.
