{"id":49057,"date":"2018-01-26T08:29:25","date_gmt":"2018-01-26T13:29:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=49057"},"modified":"2018-01-26T16:18:09","modified_gmt":"2018-01-26T21:18:09","slug":"thesis-defences-jan-29-to-feb-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2018\/01\/thesis-defences-jan-29-to-feb-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Thesis defences \u2014 Jan. 29 to Feb. 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The following is a list of thesis defences taking place at Brock from Jan. 29 to Feb. 2.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All are open for the University community to attend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Critical Sociology MA thesis defences<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Critical Sociology student Mark Omiecinski will defend the thesis, \u201cA Preventative Intervention: Staff Experiences Providing Harm Reduction in the Niagara Region,\u201d on Monday, Jan. 29 at 3 p.m. in WH 147.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The examination committee includes Dawn Zinga, Chair; Carol Strike, External Examiner (University of Toronto); Trent Newmeyer, Supervisor; and Johah Butovsky and Paula Gardner, Committee Members.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Critical Sociology student Alaina Interisano will defend the thesis, \u201cIt&#8217;s a Privilege:\u201d A Critical Examination of University Students&#8217; Perspectives of Animal Experimentation Pedagogy in Canada,\u201d on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at 11 a.m. in WH 147.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The examination committee includes Francine McCarthy, Chair; Constance Russell, External Examiner (Lakehead University); Lauren Corman, Supervisor; and Kendra Coulter and John Sorenson, Committee Members.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Master of Science thesis defence<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aditya Joshi, a candidate in the Centre for Biotechnology, will present his Master of Science thesis defence by video conference on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m. in WH 147. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His thesis is titled &#8220;A systematic view on mobile elements\u2019 contribution to human transcriptomes.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His examination committee members are Dr. Michael Pisaric, Chair; Dr. Teresa Crease, External Examiner, (University of Guelph); Dr. Ping Liang, Supervisor; Drs.
