The Few Mara Duo is expected to have the crowd at Partridge Hall jumping to its feet on Friday, Jan. 26.<\/span><\/p>\n

The group, featuring trumpeter and pianist Guy Few and pianist Stephanie Mara, takes over the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre with the show, Jump, at 7:30 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n

The duo’s performance will include pieces from well-known names such as Mendelssohn, Debussy and Richard Strauss, as well as modern composers of trumpet music, boogie-woogie and ragtime played piano four hands, with two pianists playing simultaneously on a single piano. <\/span><\/p>\n

Part of the Encore! Professional Concert Series, the show includes cross-cultural, historical and harmonic styles, and will culminate with a complete concerto for trumpet and piano by Oskar B\u00f6hme.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Few\u2019s musical talents have been praised by the international press and he has debuted\u00a0concerti by acclaimed composers including Melissa Hui, Glenn Buhr, Mathieu Lussier, Michael Occhipinti and Jacques Hetu. H<\/span>e also spends time as a keynote speaker for brain injury associations in Canada and the U.S. He has had two brain surgeries for Cavernous Hemangioma and speaks about his experience, the resulting memory loss and complications.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mara has an extensive background in music and has performed in recital and gala presentations with Canadian soloists James Campbell, Alistair Kay and Jasper Wood.<\/span><\/p>\n

Few and Mara have toured across North America and performed at many popular festivals including the Ottawa International Chamber Festival, Elora Festival, Festival of the Sound and Quad City Arts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both sessional lecturers at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Mara coaches piano and works with students majoring in brass, bassoon, clarinet and cello, while Few coaches chamber music and teaches trumpet.<\/span><\/p>\n
