Gibson Library are building on the momentum from a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2017\/11\/experts-to-shed-light-on-open-educational-resources\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">recent Open Educational Resources (OER) event<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to continue discussions about OER opportunities with faculty, staff and students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Brock community is invited to an OER at Brock Follow-up Discussion to be held Monday, Jan. 15, from <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TH253 eClassroom.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please register for the session at on the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cpi.brocku.ca\/events\/node\/1132\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CPI website<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In December, about 100 people gathered in Sean O\u2019Sullivan Theatre to hear from two of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Canada\u2019s leading advocates for greater access and affordability of teaching and learning materials:\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/thatpsychprof.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rajiv Jhangiani<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, University Teaching Fellow in Open Studies and Psychology Professor at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Vancouver, B.C., and\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecampusontario.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">David Porter<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, CEO of eCampusOntario.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The event also featured a student panel discussion about OER and short presentations from Brock faculty members about their experiences and insights in creating, adopting and adapting open educational resources.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The goal of the December event was to create greater awareness and understanding about OERs in relation to supporting access, affordability and quality of post-secondary education.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBased on feedback from the December session, the Brock community wants to keep talking about how we embrace OER as a philosophy and practice in our teaching and learning,\u201d says CPI Director Jill Grose.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More information about OERs, including powerpoint slides from the guest speaker presentations, is posted on the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/pedagogical-innovation\/resources\/open-educational-resources\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CPI website<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which also includes a link to the Library\u2019s OER guides.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-48153\" src=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Open-Education-Resources-graphic.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"700\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Centre for Pedagogical Innovation and the James A.
