{"id":48124,"date":"2017-11-29T14:44:05","date_gmt":"2017-11-29T19:44:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=48124"},"modified":"2017-11-29T16:37:01","modified_gmt":"2017-11-29T21:37:01","slug":"brock-to-host-migrant-worker-forum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2017\/11\/brock-to-host-migrant-worker-forum\/","title":{"rendered":"Brock to host migrant worker forum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Experiences of migrant workers will be the focus of an upcoming forum at Brock.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Niagara Forum on Migrant Worker Issues will take place on campus Sunday, Dec. 3.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The daylong event will bring together members of the community, including those directly impacted, to discuss strategies to enhance and support advocacy for the rights of migrant workers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The forum is hosted by the Canadian Council for Refugees and the Niagara Migrant Workers Interest Group, and sponsored by the Brock University Im\/Migrant Community Outreach course (SPAN3F80\/4F80) in the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After an opening plenary, participants will attend breakout sessions that include a presentation on community partnerships from three previous students of the course who are now pursuing graduate studies in related fields at other institutions.
